Oncologists tell us there's cancer cells in all of us. The cancer cells in all of us speak of the root cause of our disease. All the children of Adam and Eve were born sinners. Yes, our first parents ate the forbidden and now the sin problem has become universal. We are not sinners because we sin; we sin because we are sinners.
(Ezekiel 18:20) "The soul that sinneth, it shall die."
(Colossians 3:5) "Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry":
Either we put to death evil passions in our lives or they will kill us.
JN 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
"Committeth sin" here is not falling once but continuing in sin. It is "sinning like a woodpecker"; repetitively.
" He that committeth sin is of the devil;for the devil sinneth from the beginning." I John 3:8
Again the active voice here, indicative of ongoing action
Repetitive sinning means that we are the "servants" of that sin, whatever it is. That sin is the tumor that's ravaging our lives.
The cure for that cancer is the cross of christ! It's life in the son. (Jesus)
This is not a self help program, it's not a cancer treatment, it is the cure for cancer!
I want to share with you Gods' two step plan to free you from the cancer of sin; but first lets take a look at some specific tumors that can shackle us.
Gal.5:19-21 is a list of the works of the flesh. Here it is:----
Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
The first four are forms of immorality. In a nation where premarital sex, adultery, and promiscuity of every kind have become the norm; fed by pornography and tantalizing promiscuous dress/undress, the tumors of immorality abound. Many are caught in cycles of sinful behavior hardly knowing where to turn for help.
Then we have scars from broken homes and relationships producing the tumors of hate, jealousy, bitterness, etc.
Many people looking for comfort, happiness and meaning in the confusion of life, turn to alcohol and drugs only to find themselves shackled to the even greater monsters of alcohol and drug abuse. We stop with the short version here and move to the cure.
ST LUKE 4:16-21 ¶And he (JESUS) came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
That's why Jesus came, to preach the good news, to bring healing, to deliver and to set free.
Now notice to whom he comes; to the poor, the brokenhearted, the captives, the blind and the bruised. He comes to those who have spent all their paltry resources and still have cancer and they know it. They have given up on self help and are looking for a power that is greater than themselves. They are sick and tired of being sick and tired.
To those, The Great Physician offers his whole satchel. All his healing medicines. He can't wait to help those that really want help. Here's his plan.
He says:"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28
He doesn't say go to the rehab center, or visit the psychologist, he says come unto me. Have you talked to Jesus about your problems ? Rehab centers and counselors may be OK but they are not the cure in themselves. Jesus is the cure.
Next Jesus says :"Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am
